Our client, Hastings County, Ontario’s second-largest County by geography, is home to 14 municipalities united under one Upper Tier Council and is poised for its next chapter of growth. The County is searching for an innovative leader: an Economic and Tourism Development Manager who will hold both portfolios. The successful candidate will help set the vision, build and execute the strategy and apply their skills and experience for the County’s continued successful future.

- A municipal professional with focused and proven experience in the collaborative continued development of a strategic plan and the implementation of initiatives for business and tourism growth in a rural environment.
- A collaborative planner with excellent strategic, operational and planning skills and experience with, and effective at, developing relevant metrics and actionable solutions focused on achieving economic growth.
- A confident manager who with their team can work independently, is respectful and transparent and who possesses exceptional analytical, collaborative, strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- A creative and entrepreneurial mind set with the vision and excitement to identify economic and tourism opportunities for the County, the experience to determine what is feasible, and the ability to exercise prudent fiscal use of allocated funds
- A skilled and articulate communicator and active team member who is adept and experienced dealing with a senior management team, with Council, stakeholders, and the public.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Public Admin, Planning and Development or a related field.
- A Certified Economic Developer designation is considered desirable.
- 5+ years’ experience in a managerial role in a related municipal environment, and a successful track record working collaboratively with an administrative team and with an elected council.
- A good understanding of municipal planning and development regulations and procedures in Ontario.
- Able to develop, analyze and apply relevant metrics for economic and tourism development
- Highly developed and demonstrated verbal and written skills with the ability to act both strategically and collaboratively in a political and community environment.
Compensation: $110,000-$124,000 plus OMERS pension and comprehensive benefits plan.
Pay: $110,000.00-$124,000.00 per year
