About the Role
As a Production Lead / Machine Operator, you will play a key hands-on role within our production team, supporting daily manufacturing activities across encapsulation, blending, granulation, and packaging operations.
This is a working lead position. You will spend a significant portion of your time operating equipment and performing machine operator duties, while also helping guide the day-to-day activities of other production team members.
The Production Lead is the person team members can look to for direction, organization, and support on the production floor. This role is not a supervisor or manager position, but it does require leadership, accountability, strong technical skills, and the ability to help keep production activities moving safely, accurately, and efficiently.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, takes pride in accuracy and cleanliness, and is comfortable helping others work within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment.
You will work a condensed Monday–Thursday schedule, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Starting wage: $27.50 per hour or dependent on related experience, technical ability, and leadership background.
What You’ll Do
- Perform machine operator duties across encapsulation, blending, granulation, and packaging operations
- Operate production equipment safely and in accordance with approved procedures
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, rooms, tools, and components before production start-up
- Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, disassembly, cleaning, and sanitation
- Help organize daily production activities, tools, materials, equipment, and room readiness
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Machine Operators and production team members
- Help ensure production work is completed according to SOPs, batch records, GMP, food safety, and safety requirements
- Review production documents for completeness, accuracy, and obvious errors during production activities
- Perform in-process checks and support quality requirements
- Safely operate forklifts to move raw materials, components, and finished products
- Troubleshoot basic production and equipment issues in collaboration with supervisors, maintenance, and quality
- Help identify and communicate production delays, material issues, documentation concerns, or equipment problems
- Support proper housekeeping, line clearance, and audit readiness on the production floor
- Assist with training and coaching team members on approved procedures and good production practices
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and help promote a positive, organized, and accountable work environment
What You’ll Lead
- Helping team members understand daily priorities and work expectations
- Supporting proper equipment and room setup before production starts
- Helping ensure materials, tools, documentation, and components are ready for each job
- Acting as a point of contact on the production floor when operators need guidance
- Encouraging safe work habits, GMP compliance, cleanliness, and accurate documentation
- Communicating quality concerns to the Quality Manager
- Supporting consistent work practices across the production team
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in manufacturing, production, assembly, or a similar hands-on work environment
- Previous experience operating production equipment is strongly preferred
- Experience in a GMP, food, natural health product, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment is an asset
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools
- Ability to guide, support, and communicate effectively with other team members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures
- Ability to complete and review production documentation accurately
- Forklift certification or safe forklift operating experience is preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sometimes repetitively
- Ability to take direction, work independently, and support a team in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of GMP, food safety, or quality systems is an asset
- Basic math skills, including percentages, decimals, rounding, weights, and production calculations
- Reliable, organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable being a go-to person on the production floor
