Job Title: Dishwasher / Cleaner

Summary:
As a Dishwasher / Cleaner at Duncan Garage Cafe & Bakery, you are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, equipment, and facilities. You help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for both staff and customers by supporting the team in daily cleaning and sanitation tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing:
- Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine according to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, glassware, and kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly.
- Hand wash larger items and specialty equipment as required.
- Cleaning & Sanitation:
- Sweep and mop all floors throughout the café, bakery, and kitchen areas.
- Clean and restock staff and customer restrooms to health and safety standards.
- Regularly empty garbage, compost, and recycling, ensuring proper disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing station and surrounding areas.
- Support to Kitchen & FOH Teams:
- Return clean dishes and utensils to proper storage areas quickly and efficiently.
- Assist in keeping kitchen prep and service areas stocked with clean equipment.
- Communicate with chefs, bakers, and baristas to ensure dish and tool availability.
- Equipment & Safety:
- Handle cleaning products safely and follow all safety procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
- Additional Duties:
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks, such as ovens, fridges, and shelving, as scheduled.
- Support closing duties to prepare the café and bakery for the next day.
- Perform other cleaning or support tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required; training will be provided.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week
