The opportunity
Northern Vision Development (NVD) is seeking a General Manager to lead Hyatt Place Whitehorse, a 115-room hotel and restaurant in the heart of downtown Whitehorse and the first Hyatt hotel north of 60. This is a high-impact opportunity for a confident, commercially minded hotel leader to build on the momentum of a newly opened property and establish it as a top performer in the Yukon market.
As General Manager, you will lead all aspects of the property’s performance, from guest experience and team leadership to financial results, brand execution, and community presence. You will be responsible for translating Hyatt standards into a locally grounded, high-performing operation that reflects both the expectations of an international brand and the distinct character of the Yukon.

- The hotel operates as a high-performing property with strong execution and consistent service standards across hotel and restaurant operations.
- Guests experience Hyatt Place as welcoming, reliable, and professionally run, driving satisfaction, repeat business, and market credibility.
- Managers and team members are well led, clear on expectations, and capable.
- The hotel and restaurant deliver strong financial results through disciplined cost management, commercial focus, and revenue growth.
- Brand standards, company expectations, and legal requirements are met, protecting the property’s integrity, safety, and reputation.
- The property builds a strong presence in Whitehorse through community relationships, local partnerships, and a leading market reputation.
- Ownership and stakeholders have confidence in the operation because planning and reporting are clear, timely, and decision-oriented.
What you bring to the role
Experience:
- General Manager experience in a large, full-service hotel environment.
- Demonstrated success leading hotel financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue growth, cost control, and profit and loss management.
- Strong experience building leadership capability, developing teams, and driving service standards through managers.
- Experience operating within a branded or franchised hotel environment and delivering to brand expectations.
Assets:
- Hyatt experience.
- Post-secondary education in hospitality, hotel management, or business.
Competencies:
- Strong hotel leadership across guest service, rooms, food and beverage, maintenance, safety, and commercial performance.
- Ability to lead through others, build culture, and develop strong, accountable teams.
- Strategic and commercially minded, with the judgment to balance guest experience, team performance, and financial results.
- Collaborative and credible with ownership, corporate partners, community stakeholders, and the broader leadership team.
- Comfortable leading in a dynamic environment and building consistency in a growing property.
