JOB OVERVIEW
Group D Properties owns and manages a growing portfolio of commercial properties covering 500,000+ sq ft of commercial office and retail space with 200+ tenants in Toronto’s downtown core and west end.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage full-cycle accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Controller, the ideal candidate will handle day-to-day financial operations for each property.
The ideal candidate will be responsible and professional, and possess exceptional analytical and computer proficiency. While this environment is generally low volume, the role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accounts Receivable:
- Manage full rent collection processes, invoicing, and bank deposits
- Track resident and tenant accounts, monitoring outstanding balances
- Maintain up-to-date tenant ledgers and handle financial inquiries promptly
- Accounts Payable:
- Code, verify, and process invoices from vendors and contractors
- Ensure timely payment of property bills, utilities, and operational expenses
- Bank Reconciliations & Administration:
- Perform detailed monthly bank reconciliations for all property and credit card accounts and flag any variances
- Organize and maintain accurate financial records and tenant accounting files
- Maintain and update financial databases per building
- Full-Cycle Accounting & Reporting:
- Maintain general ledgers and ensure clarity and accuracy in all documentation
- Complete monthly full-cycle accounting for each property in the portfolio
- Prepare initial trial balances, aging reports, and transaction histories
- Compile and present monthly or weekly financial activity reports to the Accounting Manager
- Proactively identify, investigate, and correct ledger discrepancies or data gaps
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a highly analytical field (or equivalent proven technical experience)
- Experience
- 2+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping or general accounting experience
- Understanding of commercial real estate operations is an asset, but not required
- Software skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks is required
- Aptitude to quickly master new software systems, shortcuts, and digital tools
- Experience with Yardi or similar real estate software is an asset
- Administrative skills
- Strong ability to organize and efficiently process work

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
