St. Clair Thames Students Inc. (TSI) is the student government at St. Clair College Chatham campus. TSI strives to provide the students of Chatham campus with support and services intended to enrich and complement their learning environment.
Bean and Barley and Café 78 are the on-campus food services run by TSI. Bean and Barley is a cafeteria within the college and Café 78 is a coffee café with light grab and go foods.
Job Description:
Cooking Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Complete food prep as needed, including chopping, slicing, dicing, portioning, etc.
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Ensure hot and cold food are kept at safe temperatures for service
- Must have working knowledge of each station (hot, cold, front, etc.) and be interchangeable at any time
- Set up and tear down stations as needed
- Complete orders while maintaining kitchen flow and reducing errors/food waste
- Proper and timely cleaning/maintenance of all kitchen appliances such as flat top, deep fryer, etc.
- Maintain all inventory levels & expiration dates
What you bring:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, related diploma or degree is considered an asset
- Professional and friendly demeanour
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- 1-2 years as a cook
- Some familiarity with P.O.S. systems (Square)
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work as a team player
- Ability to work with college students and understand the clientele – strong customer service skills
- Available to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends on occasion
