Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, and possess a strong understanding of construction site safety and equipment maintenance. This role is essential for efficiently completing excavation, grading, and site preparation tasks to support various construction projects. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects requiring precision and expertise in heavy equipment operation. UNDERGROUND UTILITY EXPERIENCE IS AN ASSET
Operator will assist crews with installations when not operating!
Duties
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently to perform digging, trenching, lifting, and material handling tasks
- Utilize additional heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, backhoes, and dozers as needed
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on excavators and other machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with site preparation activities including grading, paving support, and horizontal drilling operations
- Follow project plans and specifications to execute excavation tasks accurately
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate equipment usage and project timelines
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and equipment condition
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators in a construction setting; familiarity with Caterpillar equipment is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification is desirable for transporting equipment or materials
- Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques is a plus
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and practices
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads as required
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
