Our Culture at Gateway: Above-the-Line Principles and Rules of the Game
If you can commit to and live by these principles, you’re the type of person who will thrive here and succeed to align with our mission. If this level of accountability isn’t for you—if you won’t engage, keep commitments, and own outcomes—you’re not the right fit. We respect that not everyone is ready for this commitment, and we appreciate the honesty of those who opt out. If you’re ready to embrace these Above-the-Line principles, you’ll flourish with us.
Above-the-Line Principles
These principles drive our culture and define how we work every day:
- Accountability: Own the result end-to-end—don’t pass blame, name the issue, fix it, and follow through.
- Become Part of the Solution: Bring solutions, not just problems—arrive with options and a recommendation.
- Respect for Others and Their Feelings: Lead with respect—assume positive intent and communicate with care.
- Act Now!: Take action—ship the smallest next step today.
- What Else Can I Do?: Look for the next helpful action without being asked.
- What Coaching Do You Have for Me? What Can I Do Better?: Seek feedback early and often to raise your game.
- Personal Ownership: Own your craft, tools, and outcomes—be the CEO of your area.
- Reject Average: Set a higher standard—good isn’t good enough for our customers.
- Show Others That You Care: Make care visible in preparation and follow-through.
Rules of the Game
These are our non-negotiables, embedded in onboarding and performance reviews:
1. Do the RIGHT Thing: Choose long-term trust over short-term wins; act ethically even when unseen.
Examples: Disclose risks early, escalate conflicts, follow compliance requirements.
2. Do the BEST You Can: Bring your best today and improve tomorrow; pursue mastery.
Examples: Commit to post-mortems/debriefs, set quarterly skill goals, track quality metrics.
3. Show Others That You CARE: Demonstrate care in communication, time, and quality.
Examples: Honor response-time SLAs, deliver tidy hand-offs, recognize contributions.
