Blood Ties is looking for a full-time Harm Reduction Worker at the Supervised Consumption Site (SCS).
Blood Ties Four Directions Centre is seeking a part-time continuing contract Harm Reduction Support Worker for the Supervised Consumption Site. Blood Ties operates the Yukon’s Supervised Consumption Site (SCS) in partnership with Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services.
The SCS provides a safe and confidential space for people to consume their personal drugs with one of the only smoking rooms in Canada, using state-of-the-art filtration technology to provide a safe environment for employees and clients. Community members can also access wrap-around services at the site, including harm reduction education and support, referrals, nutrition support, drug-checking services, and harm reduction supplies.
Regular hours of work are two ten-hour shifts per week with a one-hour unpaid nutrition break. This position will initially be assigned to Friday and Saturday shifts. Weekend, evening and statutory holiday work is required in this position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the SCS Team Lead, the Harm Reduction Support Worker— SCS (Supervised Consumption Site) works collaboratively as a member of the Harm Reduction team that operates within the structure outlined in the Supervised Consumption Site Staff Roles and Responsibilities document. Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary diploma and/or degree in a related field, including but is not limited to psychology, public health, addiction services, social work, other social sciences and humanities, etc.
- Experience working with underserved populations in health/social services or a related field

- Commitment to continuous learning in the workplace
- Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries in complex situations
- Ability to problem solve and manage competing tasks in a fast-pace environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Experience working with Indigenous people and communities
- Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty, racism, and stigma
- An understanding of and commitment to the principles of harm reduction and a non-judgmental approach to substance use
- Preference is given to applicants who possess the required qualifications and experience and who also bring lived or living experience of substance use and to applicants who identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit/Inuk
