We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Inspector specializing in Pressure Equipment and Piping for Contract and Third-Party Inspection projects. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspections of pressure equipment and piping systems in accordance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Conduct data collection activities during construction and commissioning phases to monitor quality and compliance.
- Review blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to verify correct installation practices and identify potential issues early.
- Analyze inspection data to identify trends, discrepancies, or non-conformities that require corrective action.
- Coordinate with construction teams, contractors, and third-party inspectors to facilitate smooth inspection processes.
- Ensure rigorous quality control by documenting inspection findings, preparing reports, and maintaining detailed records of all activities.
- Support construction inspection activities by verifying material certifications, welding procedures, and installation practices.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction inspection or quality control within the pressure equipment or piping industry.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical documentation review.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating inspection data and identifying deviations from standards.
- Construction experience with a focus on pressure vessels, piping systems, or related mechanical components is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with relevant codes such as ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards or equivalent international standards.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates must meet at least the minimum qualification for the mechanical (vessels) discipline. Preference will be given to inspectors holding the preferred qualification.
- CWB / CSA W178.2 Level II Welding Inspector certification (Preferred: with ASME Section VIII endorsement).
- OR Certified API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector in good standing (minimum qualification for the vessels discipline).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and Section IX, ASME B31.3 / B31.1, and CSA W47.1 / W59 / Z662.
- Current ABSA experience; ABSA Certified Welding Examiner designation is an asset.
- Proven third-party / source inspection experience with oil & gas and industrial fabricators.
- Valid safety tickets (e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space, CSTS/Common Safety Orientation) or willingness to obtain them.
- As an independent contractor: WCB coverage and general liability insurance.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to fabricator sites in and around Edmonton.

Pay: $60.00-$70.00 per hour
