We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a collaborative corporate team in Abbotsford, British Columbia. In this role, you will oversee core accounting operations for multiple entities while supporting accurate reporting, compliance, and informed business decisions. Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting activities across a portfolio of companies, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and current.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and supporting reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor day-to-day financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Administer payroll processing and complete related reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
- Coordinate statutory remittances and respond to inquiries from government bodies, vendors, and internal contacts as needed.
- Conduct financial reviews and project-based analysis to support planning, performance tracking, and operational decisions.
- Complete intercompany entries, post adjustments, and reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts on a regular basis.
- Maintain year-end files and working papers to support audit preparation and annual reporting requirements.
- Partner with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities.
- Provide guidance to accounting staff, helping prioritize work, meet deadlines, and strengthen technical capabilities.
- At least 3 years of experience in a senior or intermediate accounting role, with 5 or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience overall.
- Completion of, or current possession of, a recognized Canadian accounting designation.
- Strong capability in Excel, including the ability to work efficiently with financial data, reconciliations, and reporting schedules.
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, adjusting entries, general ledger reconciliations, and full-cycle accounting.
- Knowledge of payroll administration and payroll reconciliations is considered an asset.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work well across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Experience using accounting systems such as Navision or similar ERP platforms is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, stay organized, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
