Position: Solidworks Administrator / Engineering Technician/Engineering team support (Product Data Management & Bill of Materials)
Salary: $25-30/hr
Location: South East Edmonton
Full time 40 hours per week - Temporary Project 6-10 weeks
Engineering Technician with Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Design Technology, CAD Technology or other rated education . Currently seeking an Industrial Engineering Technician for a mid-sized Fabrication shop.. This position requires someone with at least 1 year of industrial or oil and gas Engineering Tech exp. The main duties will include:
Primary Responsibilities
- Review existing product codes, part descriptions, CAD files and Bills of Materials.
- Create or revise product codes using defined naming and numbering conventions.
- Update part and assembly information within SolidWorks and PDM.
- Create or modify basic SolidWorks part and assembly models where required.
- Build, revise and validate Bills of Materials based on source drawings, models and supporting documentation.
- Transpose existing technical information into a prescribed structure and format.
- Confirm that models, drawings, part records and BOM relationships are complete and consistent.
- Identify missing, duplicate, obsolete or conflicting product information.
- Maintain a project tracker and document items requiring engineering or operational clarification.
- Follow established approval and change-control procedures.
- Work closely with Engineering and project leadership to ensure the updated information meets company standards.
Requirements:
- 2 years of Engineering Technician (Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design Technology, CAD Technology or similar) experience
- 1 year of engineering support or machine shop environment experience
- Strong knowledge of SOLIDWORKS software and understanding of mechanical parts/components/assemblies and associated bill of materials
