Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Geotechnical Technician to join our team in the Markham, ON office.
Your Key Responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with engineers and other technicians performing general duties consisting of both field and laboratory work including the following:
- Working on a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation, power, mining, residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
- Conduct field work and testing which may include borehole drilling, test pit supervision, construction site review, laboratory testing, rock anchor testing, slope stability assessments (rock and soil), and installation of instrumentation.
- Support fieldwork preparation including utility locate and permitting.
- Coordinate with utility locate, drilling contractors and traffic control subcontractors for fieldwork.
- Geotechnical field testing such as caisson installation, piling supervision, rock anchor testing; observation of deep foundation installation and piezometer installation and measurements.
- Assist with field and laboratory testing of soils/concrete/asphalt.
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program
- Other general field and office related duties.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:
- Energetic team player with a commitment to superior client service.
- Experience working with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Completion of a two- or three-year college program in civil engineering technology would be an asset.
- Ability and willingness to work away from home.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience.
Position will require field work.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$61,900.00 - $86,700.00 Annually
