Position Summary
We are hiring Seasonal Banquet Cooks / Line Cooks for the Christmas season (September–December) to support high‑volume banquets ranging from 100 to 500 guests. This role focuses on large‑batch production, banquet plating, and consistent execution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Key Responsibilities
- Banquet prep & production — Prep proteins, vegetables, sauces, and garnishes for 100–500 guest events.
- Execute BEOs — Follow timelines, plating diagrams, and portion standards.
- Large‑batch cooking — Operate ovens, tilt skillets, steamers, and hot boxes.
- Plated service — Assemble plates quickly and consistently during service rush.
- Buffet setup & replenishment — Maintain temperature zones and presentation.
- Carving stations — Carve turkey, beef, ham to exact portion sizes.
- Food safety & HACCP — Maintain logs, safe temperatures, and sanitation.
- Team coordination — Work with Banquet Captains and kitchen team to meet service windows.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Line Cook, Banquet Cook, or Prep Cook.
- Ability to work in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments.
- Strong knife skills and understanding of cooking techniques.
- Food Handler Certification (Ontario).
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holiday events.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
This position is primarily based at DoubleTree by Hilton Kitchener. From time to time, based on operational requirements and in accordance with applicable employment standards, the successful candidate may be required to provide temporary support at the sister property, Home2 Suites by Hilton Kitchener.
This position plays a key role in creating memorable dining experiences and successful events while supporting the hotel's overall service and revenue goals.
Compensation
- Gratuities: Additional gratuities paid based on business volume and event schedule
- Seasonal contract: September to December
- Potential extension based on performance and occupancy
