We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Kumon Math Assistant to join our dedicated team in New Sudbury. This position is ideal for someone confident in mathematics, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in helping children become confident, independent learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Grade Worksheets: Quickly and accurately mark student math assignments.
- Guide Students: Provide helpful hints and guidance while encouraging independent problem-solving.
- Monitor Progress: Observe students’ work habits and notify the instructor of any concerns or achievements.
- Maintain the Centre: Help create a welcoming, focused, and respectful learning environment while keeping the grading area organized and efficient.
- Prepare Materials: Assist with organizing worksheets and other classroom materials as needed.
- Uphold Standards: Follow Kumon’s established instructional standards and centre procedures, always encouraging students with a positive and supportive attitude.
Qualifications & What We’re Looking For
- Math Proficiency: Strong mental math skills equivalent to Kumon Level H or higher (confident in solving complex math problems mentally).
- Accuracy & Speed: Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently and accurately multitask in a busy learning centre.
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, patient, and highly encouraging with children of all ages.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn the Kumon Method.
- Experience: Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or working with children is a strong asset, though not strictly required.
- Commitment: Dedicated to maintaining high academic standards and fostering student success.
Selection Process: Please note that as part of the interview process, successful candidates will be invited to complete a mental math assessment equivalent to Kumon Level H to ensure proficiency.
