As we continue to grow, we are currently looking for an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Cory Potash Mine near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We strongly prefer Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics; however, Journeyperson Automotive Technicians, Agricultural Equipment Technicians, or highly motivated apprentices with relevant experience may also be considered.

Schedule: 7-on, 7-off rotation | 12-Hour Shifts | Alternating Day and Night Rotations
Compensation: $35.00 - $50.00/ Hour (Starting rate based on experience & specialized ticket premiums)
Commute: Independent commute required | Living Out Allowance (LOA) available for eligible employees. Please note: This is not a camp job.
Position Summary
As an Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining heavy-duty mobile equipment used in underground mining operations. Working closely with site crews and leadership, you will help ensure equipment reliability, maximize operational uptime, and support safe and efficient underground production.
This role requires a strong commitment to safety, technical expertise, quality workmanship, and teamwork in a demanding underground mining environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a safety-sensitive position with no direct reports. Your duties include:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose equipment issues: Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on underground mining equipment.
- Perform repairs: Repair and replace worn or damaged components on heavy-duty mobile equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance: Complete scheduled maintenance inspections and servicing to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
- Equipment Overhaul & Inspection
- Inspect equipment: Identify defects, equipment wear, and maintenance requirements to minimize operational downtime.
- Overhaul systems: Rebuild and adjust major equipment components and systems as required.
- Maintain records: Complete inspection reports, maintenance documentation, and repair records accurately and efficiently.
Team Support & Safety
- Collaborate: Work closely with operators, miners, welders, supervisors, cross-shift co-workers, and site leadership to support production objectives.
- Safety leadership: Follow all HCC and client safety procedures and actively participate in safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Communicate effectively: Report equipment status, maintenance requirements, and repair progress to site leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in mining, construction, industrial, or related environments.
- Certification: Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician preferred. Journeyperson Automotive Technicians, Agricultural Equipment Technicians, or qualified apprentices may also be considered.
- License: Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, and heavy equipment diagnostics.
- Physical requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in underground mining environments.
- Attributes: Strong safety focus, good judgment, dependability, initiative, and excellent communication skills.
Asset Qualifications
- Underground mining experience: Previous experience maintaining underground mining equipment such as scoop trams, telehandlers, bolters, or continuous miners.
- Welding experience: Experience performing welding repairs or fabrication work.
- Hydraulic systems: Advanced hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Mine safety training: Current Saskatchewan General Mine Safety Awareness (GMSA), Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platforms, Confined Space, or other mining-related certifications.
- Additional certifications: Current First Aid/ CPR certification or additional trade qualifications.
