Position: Early Childhood Educator – Level 2 and 3 (Toddlers)
Location: THE SEED DAYCARE & OSC, 2611 ELWOOD DRIVE SW, T6X 0P7
We are currently seeking a reliable, experienced, and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (Level 2 or Level 3) to join our team in the Toddler Program.
This role is best suited for educators who are confident in maintaining strong classroom structure, documentation standards, and full compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations.
Position Details
- Full-Time, Permanent
- Flexible to work 6:30am - 6:30pm, weekdays
- Toddler classroom
- Competitive hourly wage plus Government Wage Top-Up
Qualifications & Requirements
- Alberta Child Development Worker (Level 2) or Child Development Supervisor (Level 3) Certification
- Minimum 2 years experience in a licensed childcare setting
- Fluent in English (oral and written communication)
- Valid First Aid & CPR
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Class 4 Driver’s License (asset)
Core Responsibilities:
Programming & Child Development
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate programs based on children’s interests, needs, and abilities
- Facilitate learning through self-directed play in a nurturing and safe environment
- Create a positive and nurturing environment supporting children’s social, emotional, and physical development
- Maintain ongoing developmental records for each child (observations and portfolios)
- Facilitate appropriate behavior guidance that supports social-emotional development
Supervision & Daily Care
- Ensure ongoing supervision and safety of children at all times
- Maintain required staff-child ratios both indoors and outdoors
- Carry out personal care routines respectfully and professionally
- Be aware of children’s allergies, dietary restrictions, and individual needs
- Use daily routines as positive learning experiences
Compliance & Documentation
- Implement all daycare policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain full compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time (attendance, incident reports, timesheets, etc.)
- Maintain accurate child and staff attendance records
- Report any concerns regarding children, staff, or operations to the Director
- Maintain ongoing communication with Director regarding program needs
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with families regarding children’s development and daily activities
- Maintain professional communication with staff and management
- Refer families to the Director when additional support or resources are required
- Assist with family functions, enrollment processes, and daycare events when required
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- Participate in accreditation processes and quality improvement initiatives
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain current First Aid certification
- Renew Criminal Record Check as required
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene procedures
- Record safety inspections and cleaning routines when designated
- Respond appropriately to health and safety concerns and emergencies
- Complete Accident/Incident reports as required
- Inform Director immediately of all incidents involving children or staff
Professionalism & Conduct
- Maintain confidentiality at all times as per daycare policy
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
- Participate in performance reviews and professional growth planning
- Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
Additional Duties
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Director or management as required to support the smooth operation of the daycare.

- Reliable, punctual, and maintains professional attendance standards

- Strong communication skills with both families and coworkers
- Able to take direction well and implement feedback from management
- Professional, calm, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced childcare environment
- Maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Willing to participate in staff meetings, training, and centre events
