About Us
Specsavers Southcentre Mall is a single-location optometry practice in Calgary with a moderate-sized team and a strong clinical focus. Alongside routine eye care, we offer dry eye treatment, ocular disease management, myopia control, scleral contact lens fittings, binocular vision services, and more. We're looking for an experienced operations leader to keep the clinic running smoothly so our doctors and staff can focus on delivering excellent patient care.
The Role
The Clinic Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day running of the clinic — staff, scheduling, patient flow, inventory, and administration. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone comfortable coaching a team while also stepping in at the front desk or in the dispensary when the day calls for it.
What You'll Do
- Supervise, schedule, and support front-of-house, optical, and technician staff, including onboarding and ongoing training
- Manage daily patient flow and appointment scheduling to minimize wait times and keep the clinic running on time
- Oversee frame, lens, and contact lens inventory: ordering, receiving, stock levels, and supplier coordination
- Handle escalated patient concerns with professionalism and follow through to resolution
- Oversee insurance and third-party claims processing and daily reconciliation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, privacy, and infection-control standards
- Maintain equipment servicing schedules and coordinate repairs
- Track key clinic metrics and report to the Optometrist Owner
- Lead team meetings and support recruitment, training, and performance reviews
- Identify and implement process improvements that make the clinic more efficient
What You Bring
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the optometry, optical, or eyecare industry
- Proven leadership or management experience — supervising a team, managing staff schedules, or running clinic operations
- Solid working knowledge of insurance and third-party billing
- Strong understanding of clinic workflows, patient scheduling, and optical dispensing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both patients and staff
- Comfort with practice management software and general computer proficiency
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment
- Availability for a full-time schedule that includes evenings and weekends
An asset:
- Experience with Acuitas 3 practice management software
- Familiarity with specialty services such as dry eye, myopia control, scleral lenses, or ocular disease management
No optician or assistant licence is required for this role — hands-on industry experience is what matters to us.
