JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Clerk supports the Finance team through weekly cash reconciliation and accounts payable processing. Working on-site 1-2 days per week, this role brings a sharp eye for accuracy, is comfortable working independently, and has natural ease with numbers. Day-to-day, they work autonomously while staying connected with a highly experienced remote team who provide guidance and support. In all aspects of the role, this position upholds a high standard of professionalism when working with members, guests, and colleagues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cash Control & Reconciliation
- Perform weekly reconciliation of Member Lounge cash-outs based on restaurant sales across multiple servers.
- Count, verify, and balance cash with a high degree of accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile, maintain, and process of petty cash boxes.
- Banking, Accounts Payable & General Accounting Support
- Prepare and complete weekly deposits of excess cash and cheques.
- Obtain invoice approvals and enter approved invoices into Accounts Payable using Jonas Club Management software.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and inventory tasks as required.
- Provide backup coverage for finance colleagues during vacations and absences.
- Interacts with members, guests, and colleagues with professionalism, discretion, and a hospitality mindset, reflecting the standards of the Club at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with Jonas Club Management software is an asset.
SKILLS
- Attention to Detail: High standards for accuracy in cash handling, reconciliation, and data entry.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and management. Comfortable staying connected with a remote team while working independently on-site.
- Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of debits, credits, and general accounting principles with the ability to apply them in day-to-day tasks.
- Organizational Skills: Self-directed, organized, with the ability to manage priorities and complete tasks within a compact, part-time schedule.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to spot and investigate discrepancies proactively, following through to resolution.
- Reliability: Consistent, punctual, and dependable.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance clerk role.
- Experience with cash handling, petty cash, bank deposits, or accounts payable processes.
- Experience in a private club, hospitality, or restaurant environment is an asset.
- Experience in a customer-facing or service-oriented role is an asset.
Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
