Skilled Civil Pipe Layer / Civil Foreman
Location: 2787 Lakeview Terrace, Langford, BC
We are seeking an experienced Civil Pipe Layer / Civil Foreman to lead the final completion of a residential subdivision servicing project.
This position is for an individual who can independently take engineering drawings, record drawings, survey layout, and consultant deficiency lists and execute the remaining work to municipal standards with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing emailed deficiency reports, coordinating crews, planning repairs, and completing all outstanding civil works required for project close-out and municipal acceptance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret civil engineering drawings, record drawings, and municipal specifications.
- Utilize survey equipment and grade information to accurately lay out and construct work in the field.
- Review consultant-issued deficiency lists and independently organize, coordinate, and complete all required repairs.
- Complete final installations and repairs to sanitary, storm, and water infrastructure.
- Perform sanitary, storm, and watermain tie-ins to existing live municipal infrastructure.
- Install and adjust service boxes, valve boxes, cleanouts, catch basins, manholes, and related civil infrastructure.
- Coordinate flushing, video inspections, cleaning, and testing of underground utilities.
- Repair asphalt, concrete, curbs, road structures, and surface deficiencies.
- Lead field crews while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety.
- Coordinate inspections with consultants and ensure all work is ready for acceptance.
Required Experience
Applicants must have extensive experience with:
- Municipal underground utility construction.
- Live water, gas, fibre optic, hydro, telecommunications, and other buried utilities.
- Utility locates and safe excavation practices.
- Reading IFC drawings, record drawings, and engineering plans.
- Survey layout and grade control.
- Sanitary, storm, and water systems.
- Performing live utility tie-ins.
- Leading civil construction crews.
- Troubleshooting and completing deficiency work without constant supervision.
Experience with the Following Is Essential
The successful applicant should be capable of completing work similar to:
- Flushing and CCTV video inspection of sanitary and storm mains.
- Installing Brooks boxes over service and inspection chambers.
- Cleaning debris from catch basins, oil interceptors, cleanouts, and service chambers.
- Repairing sanitary and storm cleanouts.
- Repairing damaged manholes and stormwater structures.
- Completing roadway construction and parking areas.
- Asphalt and curb repairs.
- Final grading and restoration.
- Preparing the project for consultant walkthroughs and municipal acceptance.
Assets
- Excavator operating experience.
- Class 1 or Class 3 Driver’s Licence.
- Experience working on subdivision servicing projects.
- First Aid certification.
