At PAVIA, we're not your typical café.
For nearly 15 years, we've been serving our community from the heart of Herring Cove, combining specialty coffee, fresh food, contemporary art, and genuine hospitality under one roof. We're proud to be a former Halifax Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award recipient, and we're even prouder that our staff tend to stay with us for years. Because of that, opportunities to join our team don't come along very often.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in doing things well, and wants to be part of a close-knit team where everyone pitches in.
What you'll be doing
No two days are exactly the same at PAVIA. While you'll spend much of your day crafting espresso beverages and serving customers, everyone here helps wherever they're needed.
You might be:
- Preparing espresso-based drinks, coffee, and tea
- Greeting customers and creating a welcoming experience
- Serving soups, panini, pastries, and other café offerings
- Operating the POS and handling payments
- Restocking products and keeping displays looking their best
- Helping customers explore our community grocer and retail items
- Keeping the café clean, organized, and ready for the next rush
- Working alongside a team that genuinely enjoys what they do
We're looking for someone who...
- Is naturally friendly and enjoys talking with people
- Works well in a fast-paced environment without becoming flustered
- Takes initiative and notices what needs to be done
- Is dependable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Enjoys being part of a team
- Takes pride in keeping a clean and organized workspace
- Can comfortably multitask and prioritize
- Is available to work weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings
Experience
Previous café, restaurant, food service, or barista experience is certainly an asset, but we're equally interested in finding the right person with the right attitude. We can teach the technical skills—what matters most is kindness, reliability, and a genuine desire to provide great service.
