We are seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer who combines exceptional Structural Engineering expertise with project leadership, client relationship management, team development, and practice growth skills. This role is ideal for a highly capable Structural Engineer with extensive experience delivering structural engineering projects in accordance with Ontario codes, standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements, as well as a strong technical foundation in structural analysis, building design, rehabilitation, and engineering project delivery.
While leadership and client engagement are important aspects of this role, we are ultimately seeking a strong Structural Engineer with the technical expertise to lead complex structural engineering projects from concept through construction.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will serve as a technical leader within the Structural Engineering team, guiding project delivery, mentoring engineers, working directly with clients and stakeholders, and helping shape the continued growth of Mantecon Partner’s Structural Engineering presence in Toronto.

The Opportunity
This position is ideal for a Lead Structural Engineer who enjoys balancing technical excellence, project leadership, and client engagement.
You will serve as a lead Structural Engineer on a diverse range of building, infrastructure, rehabilitation, and assessment projects while coordinating multidisciplinary teams, working directly with clients and stakeholders, and providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Success in this role requires strong structural engineering expertise, sound technical judgment, and the ability to confidently guide projects from concept through construction while building trusted relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.

What You'll Do
Structural Engineering Leadership
- Act as the Lead Structural Engineer responsible for the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through construction.
- Provide technical oversight and engineering review of structural designs involving concrete, steel, masonry, timber, and existing building rehabilitation.
- Lead structural condition assessments, investigations, restoration projects, rehabilitation designs, and structural evaluations.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Apply advanced knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and structural engineering best practices.
- Review, approve, and seal engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation as required.
- Utilize structural analysis and modelling software to develop practical, efficient, and technically sound engineering solutions.
- Ensure projects meet all regulatory requirements, project objectives, and quality standards.
Project & Client Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
- Lead client meetings, technical presentations, and design review discussions.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Support projects during construction through field reviews, shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, contract administration, and contractor coordination.
- Build and strengthen long-term client relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise.
Team Development & Practice Growth
- Mentor and support engineers, EITs, designers, and drafting staff.
- Contribute to technical excellence, quality assurance initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with recruitment, resource planning, and team development initiatives.
- Support proposal preparation, fee estimates, project pursuits, and client presentations.
- Strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of Mantecon Partner’s Structural Engineering practice.
- Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and service offerings.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and departmental growth initiatives.

What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive Structural Engineering consulting experience delivering structural engineering projects involving concrete, steel, masonry, timber, and rehabilitation work in accordance with the Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures.
- Proven experience serving as a Lead Structural Engineer responsible for technical design, engineering review, and project delivery.
- Strong experience delivering institutional, healthcare, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and rehabilitation projects.
- Advanced knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, CSA standards, and structural engineering best practices.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and modelling software.
- Ontario Structural Engineering experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate direct experience designing and delivering structural projects in accordance with Ontario codes, standards, and engineering practices.
- Experience working directly with architects, contractors, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading client meetings and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proven ability to manage projects, mentor engineering teams, and build strong client relationships.
- Experience supporting proposal preparation, client development, and practice growth initiatives is considered an asset.
- PMP designation is considered an asset.
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and project management skills.

Pay: $130,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
