Job Overview
As a Heavy Equipment Operator with the Sewer and Water crew, you will be responsible for operating various equipment. Your expertise will ensure the efficient and safe completion of Sewer and Water projects.
Duties
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (dozer, loader, and excavators)
- Safely perform tasks such as digging, grading, leveling, and moving materials.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubricating.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure precise work.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet project requirements and timelines.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations on-site.
- Prepare accident reports and perform minor repairs to equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, specifically Sewer and Water excavation and installment.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification is an asset
- Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
· Excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail.·
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job.
- Prior experience as a Labourer, Pipelayer or Heavy Equipment Operator in sewer, water and earthworks projects an asset.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.·
- Ability to work with and accept guidance from Sewer and Water direct supervisor.
Working Conditions:
- Must be comfortable working in underground and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by project demands.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery.
