Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Lumber Yard Floor Builder, where you will create custom floor joist and LVL packages for use in residential and commercial construction. This energetic position involves cutting lengths of i-joist and LVL to specific lengths and packaging the material for transport. Your hands-on skills and attention to detail will help us deliver top-quality service to our customers while fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious environment. Please note, this position involves outdoor work in all seasons. Work environment is a busy yard where the ability to observe visual and auditory warnings is critical for protecting worker safety.
Responsibilities
- Cut i-joist and LVL material to specific lengths using a chainsaw
- Assemble product into banded lifts that are ready for transport
- Move and replenish material using a sit-down forklift
- Manually insert cut blocks and otherwise position product as needed to prevent damage
- Maintain a clean and well-organized joist yard
- Wear appropriate chainsaw PPE when cutting, including: hard hat with integrated hearing protection and visor, chainsaw chaps, steel-toed boots, gloves, and hi-vis vest
- Pick lumber orders using a forklift when there are no flooring orders to build
Experience
- Prior experience in carpentry, construction, or a related field is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Must be familiar with imperial units of measure (able to read a tape measure accurately)
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward safety and quality standards.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety regulations related to construction or yard operations is advantageous.
