North Star Contracting is an established and growing civil construction company specializing in underground utilities and surface works. We are looking for a motivated Project Coordinator to join our Project Management team and support the successful delivery of projects safely, on schedule, and on budget.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator plays a key role in supporting multiple projects throughout their lifecycle. This includes project setup, quantity tracking, document control, scheduling support, and coordination between the office, field, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend client and site meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes
- Assist with project setup and close-out documentation
- Track project progress, quantities, and quality of work
- Support the development and updating of project schedules
- Communicate project information clearly to the operations team, clients, and stakeholders
- Track and manage contemplated change notices and change orders
- Assist the Project Manager in reviewing contractor quotations for fairness and accuracy
- Review field inspection reports and follow up as required
- Prepare substantial completion certificates and gather required close-out documents
- Keep the Project Manager informed of project status, risks, and client issues
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent trade/field experience)
- 1–3 years of experience supporting Project Managers in a construction environment
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, B2W, or Explorer/Eclipse is an asset
- Knowledge of City of Calgary specifications and civil construction practices is an asset
