Outdoor Operations & Maintenance Lead
Full-Time | Seasonal | Fly-In Lodge | Northern Ontario
Wilderness North is hiring an Outdoor Operations & Maintenance Lead for a full-service fly-in fishing lodge.
This position is responsible for dock operations, floatplane handling, mechanical systems, and exterior lodge maintenance in a remote setting.
Room and board provided.
Responsibilities
Floatplane & Dock Operations
- Safely catch, secure, and release floatplanes
- Load and unload guests, luggage, freight, fuel, and supplies
- Coordinate safe dock operations during aircraft arrivals and departures
- Ensure boats are clean, fueled, inspected, and guest-ready
- Assist guests safely on and off boats and docks
- Maintain organized and hazard-free dock areas
Mechanical & Systems Maintenance
- Maintain and repair small engines (outboards, pumps, lawn equipment)
- Perform routine generator inspections and maintenance
- Monitor and maintain lodge fuel systems and storage
- Oversee propane systems and tank levels
- Maintain water systems (pumps, pressure systems, filtration)
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs
- Identify and resolve maintenance issues proactively
Facilities & Grounds
- Maintain exterior infrastructure
- Perform lawn care and general grounds maintenance
- Maintain tools, fuel areas, and mechanical spaces
- Assist with seasonal opening and closing procedures
Guest Support
- Support fish cleaning operations
- Assist with shore lunches as required
- Maintain a professional and helpful presence around guests
Requirements
- Mechanical experience required (small engines, generators preferred)
- Knowledge of safe fuel handling procedures
- Basic plumbing and electrical skills
- Physically capable of lifting heavy items and working outdoors
- Comfortable working around floatplanes and docks
- Able to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Professional attitude and team-oriented mindset
