Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Grademan to manage the precise establishment of elevations, grades, and alignments. This role serves as a technical bridge between design plans and field execution, collaborating closely with foremen, surveyors, and equipment operators to ensure all earthworks, utilities, and roadways adhere strictly to engineered specifications and tolerances.
.Responsibilities:
- Survey & Layout: Utilize GPS rovers, total stations, and laser levels to establish and verify site benchmarks, control points and offsets.
- Plan Interpretation: Review construction drawings and municipal specifications to identify potential design gaps and ensure accurate field layout.
- Operational Guidance: Provide precise grade information to equipment operators to facilitate accurate cuts, fills, and slopes.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed daily as-built records and verify finished surfaces against project tolerances.
- Safety & Coordination: Oversee utility locate (BC1) compliance and mentor crew members on safety protocols and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the civil construction sector performing survey and layout.
- Proficiency with GPS-based survey equipment, automated grade controls, and total stations.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license
Assets:
- Strong mathematical aptitude and blueprint reading skills.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or equivalent designation.
- Auto CAD skills
Work Environment
- Frequent travel to construction sites (GTA).
- Exposure to outdoor and active construction site conditions.
