Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic and telecommunication infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network infrastructure, low voltage systems, and electrical components. The Fiber Technician will work in various environments, including outdoor and indoor settings, ensuring reliable connectivity for our clients. Candidates with experience operating forklifts, bucket trucks, and welding are highly preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge telecommunication projects with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables (single-mode & multi-mode)
- Perform fusion splicing and troubleshooting in both aerial and underground environments
- Read and interpret construction drawings, splice schematics, and network plans
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing and provide accurate documentation
- Assist with conduit, duct bank, and manhole installations when required
- Work alongside HDD and hydrovac crews during fiber placement
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
- Follow all safety policies and procedures on job sites
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in fiber optic installation/splicing
- Experience with fusion splicing and OTDR testing
- Knowledge of underground civil construction is a strong asset
- Ability to read prints and telecom drawings
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (clean abstract preferred)
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00-$36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
