Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide essential care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. This is a contract-based role offering flexible schedules and consistent client opportunities in Halton region.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Support with meal preparation and feeding as required
- Help with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, promoting mental well-being
- Assist with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Support clients with dementia or hospice care needs with patience and understanding
- Follow care plans meticulously and document observations accurately
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support
- Observe and report changes in client condition
- Complete basic service documentation
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care is preferred
- Knowledge of patient care procedures, including medication administration and dementia care
- Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Familiarity with caregiving tasks such as meal preparation, light cleaning, and mobility assistance
- Previous experience in hospice or senior care environments is a plus
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience for working with diverse populations
Requirements
- Valid PSW Certificate (Ontario-recognized)
- Minimum 3 years experience in home care, LTC, retirement, or hospital settings
- CPR & First Aid Certification (current)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Strong communication and professionalism
- Reliable transportation

Work Arrangement
This position is offered on an independent contractor basis. Contractors manage their own taxes and certifications. Hours are based on availability and client needs.
