Course: EAST 430D1 001 Third Level Chinese (3 credits)
Course details: A communicative approach will be used to provide students with skills to communicate in various situations, express their ideas and feelings, and discuss various aspects of culture and life in China and in Canada. Teaching materials include Chinese movies on videotape and slides depicting Chinese life and culture.
Contract dates: August 31, 2026 – January 5, 2027

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education:
M.A. in Linguistics, applied Linguistics, and/or foreign language education.
Experience:
Teaching Chinese as an instructor at the college level, as well as interest in upper-level instruction in translation.
Other:
Must be able to teach Chinese language at the introductory level and possess native or near-native fluency in Chinese with an excellent command of English. This course may be co-taught.
Position Summary:
A Course assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request, review of their students’ grades;
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
