Overview
AgSafe is seeking a professional, field-oriented Safety Advisor to provide occupational health and safety consultation, education, and training to agricultural employers and workers in the Lower Mainland and surrounding regions. This role supports employers in developing practical, compliant, and effective health and safety programs that align with WorkSafeBC requirements and the operational realities of agriculture.
- The successful candidate will normally be appointed near the beginning of the salary range, with placement based on qualifications, directly related experience, and internal equity.
- A three-month probationary period applies.
- This role involves regular travel to active agricultural worksites and requires compliance with AgSafe policies and applicable site safety requirements.
- The employee must have reliable access to a vehicle suitable for business travel. Business-related mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the organization’s mileage reimbursement policy,

Responsibilities
- Provide on-site and remote occupational health and safety advisory services to agricultural employers and workers.
- Facilitate health and safety training for farm workers, supervisors, and agricultural employers.
- Assist employers with the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs.
- Promote safe work practices and support employer understanding of applicable WorkSafeBC requirements through consultation, training, and education.
- Support employer participation in safety initiatives.
- Assist in developing and updating resources, including safe work practice materials, hazard alerts, training content, and other safety-related communications for AgSafe members.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of services provided, employer interactions, training activities, and follow-up actions.
- Liaise with WorkSafeBC representatives and other sector partners to share health and safety information and support activities within AgSafe’s mandate.
- Identify emerging hazards, trends, and employer needs and communicate those insights to support AgSafe’s programs, resources, and services.
- Frequent travel to agricultural worksites throughout the Lower Mainland as required.
Requirements
- A diploma, certificate, or equivalent education in occupational health and safety, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- A minimum of two years of occupational health and safety experience.
- Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and WorkSafeBC guidelines relevant to agricultural workplaces.
- Effective facilitation, presentation, and adult-learning skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear records, correspondence, and practical safety materials.
- Demonstrated ability to build respectful, trust-based relationships with employers, workers, sector partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently in the field while contributing effectively to a small, province-wide team.
- Ability to travel reliably to agricultural worksites across the Lower Mainland. AgSafe will consider accommodation requests consistent with its legal obligations.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Valid Class 5 BC drivers license
Pay: $62,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
