The Opportunity
As a Truck Driver, you'll safely transport and deliver engineered wood products, roof trusses, floor systems, wall panels, and timber packages to residential and commercial construction sites throughout the Thompson-Okanagan and surrounding regions.
You'll operate a brand new one-ton dual-wheel pickup truck with a gooseneck trailer, ensuring every delivery is completed safely, efficiently, and professionally. You'll also represent Kamloops Truss on every job site by providing exceptional customer service and building positive relationships with our customers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Safely operate a one-ton dual-wheel pickup truck with a gooseneck trailer.
- Deliver roof trusses, floor systems, engineered wood products, wall panels, and timber packages to customer job sites.
- Safely load, unload, and secure materials using forklifts and proper load securement practices.
- Complete deliveries safely and efficiently while complying with all traffic regulations and company safety standards.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections.
- Maintain trucks, trailers, and equipment in clean, organized, and roadworthy condition.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and promptly report repair requirements.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and servicing.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, dispatch, and production teams.
- Assist within the shipping yard and production departments when deliveries are complete or during slower production periods.
- Participate in company safety meetings, inspections, and ongoing training initiatives.
You're a Great Fit If You Have
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with Heavy Haul Endorsement (required).
- A Class 1 Driver's Licence is considered a strong asset, and Class 1 drivers are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum two years of commercial driving and delivery experience.
- Experience towing gooseneck trailers or similar heavy trailers.
- Forklift experience is considered an asset.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Strong understanding of load securement and transportation safety requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Climb onto trailers and safely secure loads.
- Perform physical loading, unloading, and material handling duties.
- Safely operate commercial vehicles for extended periods.
Seasonal Operations
Kamloops Truss operates year-round; however, as a manufacturing facility, workloads naturally fluctuate with seasonal construction demands.
