Responsibilities:
The Lead Educator Level 1 plays a key role in guiding curriculum implementation, supporting team development and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children and families and upholds the mission and values of OCOF/Nena.
Qualifications & SKILLS:
1. Education & Certificates
· Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with current good standing registration in the College of Early Childhood Educators;
· Current Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (within 6 months)
· Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
2. Experience
· Minimum 6 months experience working in a childcare facility.
3. Skills
· Early Childhood Education & Curriculum Planning - Strong knowledge of CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen?
· Leadership – Capacity to model best practices and support professional support among team members
· Conflict Resolution
· Communication – strong verbal and written communication
· Relationship Building – active listening, family engagement, professional collaboration
· Health, Safety & Compliance
· Organizational & Administrative Skills – time management, attention to detail, technology use, multi-tasking
· Professionalism & Continuous Learning – commitment to ethical practice, adaptability, commitment to professional growth, and commitment to cultural competency.
Additional considerations:
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
· Ability to do the following: bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, and running.
· This position requires considerable flexibility.
· Requires some evening and weekend work for training and events.
· Interaction with children, family members, and community partners.
· Noise level can be moderate to loud
