The challenges that await you
Under the authority of the division head, you ensure the control and verification of accounting operations related to municipal financial activities. You participate in the development of the division's work methods, assist in training staff, and ensure the quality of services. You prepare and submit recommendations to your superior for all files under your responsibility. Additionally, you participate in the preparation of financial statements for items within your area of expertise and any other required reports.
- You prepare or participate in the development and presentation of analyses and other related reports required by the municipal administration;
- You supervise, verify, and execute analyses relevant to your field, ensuring that all financial transactions are adequately reflected and comply with generally accepted accounting standards and applicable laws. You analyze the impact of new tax, accounting laws, and regulations on activities within your area of expertise and submit your recommendations to your superior;
- You analyze, develop, design, and propose modifications to interdepartmental procedures and information systems to your superior following the approval of all procedure and control project proposals, and formulate recommendations to your superior;
- You design, develop, and propose standards, policy drafts, programs, and work procedures concerning your area of expertise and ensure their compliance once approved by the Service management;
- You collaborate in the design and maintenance of computerized systems.
The ideal profile for us
- Hold a bachelor's degree in administration with a concentration in accounting and a graduate diploma in public accounting;
- Have four (4) years of relevant experience in functions such as accounting, financial statements, internal control, process optimization, accountability, training, and advisory roles;
- Experience in analyzing investment projects and budget monitoring;
- Experience in writing accounting memos, conducting external audits of public, governmental, private, and/or non-profit organizations is required;
- Knowledge of accounting standards;
- Knowledge of the Cities and Towns Act is desirable;
- Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec CPA;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software including advanced Excel and the use of various information systems.
