Job Overview
Join the SPI team as a Traffic Control Personnel and play a vital role in ensuring safety and smooth operations at construction sites and roadwork zones. You will be responsible for directing traffic, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting construction crews to keep projects progressing efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging equipment to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through work zones
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as needed
- Communicate clearly with construction teams, drivers, and pedestrians to relay instructions and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Assist with the setup of temporary traffic signals or detours during construction activities
- Conduct routine inspections of traffic control setups to ensure proper placement and functionality
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations related to traffic management and construction site operations
- Document daily activities, incidents, or hazards encountered during shifts to maintain accurate records for project compliance
Requirements
- Prior experience in traffic control, construction, or related fields is considered an asset training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Ability to operate basic heavy equipment used in traffic management such as flagging tools or portable signage devices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly direct traffic and coordinate with team members
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, or work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods
- Valid certification in traffic control or flagging (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
Licence/Certification:
- Certification or training in traffic control or flagging (preferred)
