Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Allied Health, the incumbent will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and management of patients with a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal diagnosis and medical conditions.
- OTs work with both inpatients, outpatients. They work throughout the hospital on medical/surgical units, rehab programs, Integrated Stroke Unit, Complex Care, and Palliative units.
- This is an 18-month temporary full-time position
Primary Responsibilities
- Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the development of care, treatment and discharge plan of patients
- Assess patients to determine strengths and weaknesses cognitively, perceptually, physically, and psycho-emotionally.
- Complete formal cognitive and functional assessments, make recommendations based on outcomes (MoCA, ALFA, FIM)
- Develop treatment plans for enhanced functioning, safety and independence.
- Educate and communicate progress, therapy plans, exercises, mobility and equipment needs to patients.
- Set up and prepare therapy programs and delegate activities to OTA PTA as per COTO guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team using verbal and written formats.
- Maintain workload statistics and participate in documentation procedures
- Participate as a member on various committees (e.g. Wound Care, Quality Council)
- Ability to prioritize and manage caseloads in a fast-paced environment
- Self directed learner and dedicated to ongoing learning, supervision of students.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized university, required
- Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, required
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy, preferred
- Eligible for membership in OSOT and CAOT, required
- Current BCLS/HCP certification, required
- ADP authorizer, preferred
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
- Criminal Record Check required
