1.0 SAT - Elementary Numeracy and Literacy
2026-2027 School Year
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Education, the SAT will provide leadership and guidance to support effective literacy and numeracy instruction for Kindergarten to Grade 8 learners across the district, with a special focus on the implementation of the revised mathematics and language curriculum. Primarily, the SAT will support staff capacity-building related to diagnostic assessment, program planning, intervention, and gap-closing strategies. The SAT will also work to support educators and school teams with the implementation of board-based literacy and numeracy programs and resources, including technological tools and platforms that support student learning and teacher assessment practices. An aspect of this role includes direct involvement in board improvement planning processes, as well as collaboration with provincial and regional groups to inform and guide board programming.
These positions will provide support to all schools within the Board and will require travel for job-related purposes.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must possess the qualifications in accordance with the Education Act and the pertinent Regulations, including a specialist qualification;
- Five (5) years teaching experience; and
- A valid driver’s license as travel is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualifications in three divisions;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- Keen understanding of effective and evidence-informed instructional strategies to support student literacy and numeracy development;
- Significant and recent experience teaching literacy and numeracy skill development, including the effective application of Board-endorsed diagnostic assessment tools and program resources;
- Completion of a 3-part Reading and/or Math Specialist; or commitment to enroll in a reading or math specialist program within the first year of the role;
- Significant commitment to Catholic education and promotion of the Catholic faith; and
- Awareness of Indigenous traditions and perspectives.
The names of three (3) professional references are required, including a current immediate supervisor.
