Job Overview
Miller’s Home Hardware Building Centre is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Contractor Sales Desk Manager to lead our Contractor Sales team. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of lumber and building materials, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service to contractors, builders, and retail customers.
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Contractor Sales Desk while supporting sales growth, inventory management, customer relationships, estimating, quotations, and team development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the daily operations of the Contractor Sales Desk team
- Develop and manage staff schedules to support business demands and customer service standards
- Build strong relationships with contractors, builders, and customers
- Provide product recommendations, quotations, estimates, and project support
- Oversee special orders and ensure timely follow-up on customer requests
- Manage stock ordering for lumber, building materials, and related products to maintain appropriate inventory levels and minimize shortages
- Coordinate with purchasing, yard, and delivery teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment
- Monitor inventory levels, product availability, pricing, and market trends
- Support customers with building and material-related solutions
- Train, mentor, and develop team members in product knowledge, sales skills, and customer service
- Resolve customer concerns and escalated issues professionally and efficiently
- Assist management in achieving sales and operational goals
- Ensure compliance with company policies and workplace safety standards
- Participate in management meetings & provide feed back to management group on department opportunities and issues.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in lumber and building materials sales required
- Supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, building methods, and contractor sales
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong estimating and mathematical abilities
- Strong blueprint reading and material take-off/estimating abilities an asset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
- Proficiency with computer systems, POS systems, and estimating software is considered an asset
- Flexible availability, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.

Pay: From $31.15 per hour
