Job Summary
Working within the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board at St Charles Continuing Education Centres, Canadian Immigration Canada, and the Care for Newcomer Children (CNC), the supervisor is responsible for the organization's LINC Child Care Program and the administration of day to day operations of LINC Child Care Programs. He or she will be assigned other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal.
Qualifications Summary
Education Minimum Required: Two years community college, Designated Early Childhood Education Diploma
Experience Minimum Required: 2 years experience working in the child care profession
Preferred: Working in an adult education centre
Certifications or Designations
Minimum Required: First Aid/ CPR
Job Specific Skills
Minimum Required:
- Leadership Skills
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
- Knowledge of Canadian Immigration Canada (CIC), and Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) requirements, regulations
Preferred: Computer Skills: HARTs, Word, Excel, First Class, Outlook, Trillium
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility for all day to day operations of child care sites within the HWCDSB as it pertains to LINC CNC programs in compliance with CNC Child Care requirements and the HWCDSB policies:
- Registration, enrolment of child/ parent to a site
- Addressing staff, parental inquiries/concerns
- Overseeing implementation of daily CNC programs at all sites
- Purchasing consumables and equipment
- Issuing bus tickets
Responsibility for hiring and oversight of Childcare Staff
- Orientation and ongoing training (e.g.. First Aid/ CPR)
- Ongoing communication/updating, professional development
- Daily contact with lead staff
- Attendance/tracking of hours worked by child care centre employees
- Performance management
Responsibility for reporting and maintenance of data
- Monthly average report
- CNC quarterly report
Awareness of and sharing of knowledge related to Ministry and Community agencies
- Advise parents on community services and provide referrals
- Network with community service providers, IRCC, CMAS, YMCA Assessment Center, TESL Hamilton, Ontario
- Works, Public Health, Fire Department
- Organizing and facilitating meetings to collaborate with Regional LINC child care supervisors with similar programs
Ongoing Participation of various special event committees that are of service to the diverse students and children in the program
Responsibilities must constitute a minimum of 5% of working time, or are otherwise considered other duties as assigned
