The Real Estate Maintenance team is responsible for caring for and maintaining the extensive portfolio of airport-owned properties that support YVR's aviation, cargo, commercial, and business operations. Working in a dynamic 24/7 environment, the team partners closely with tenants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure facilities remain safe, reliable, and operational. Their work directly supports YVR's role as a gateway connecting people, places, and cargo by minimizing disruptions, protecting critical assets, and creating positive experiences for the businesses and communities that rely on the airport every day.
Position overview
We have a one year full-time, term/acting assignment opportunity for a Supervisor, Real Estate Maintenance. Reporting to the Manager, Real Estate Properties, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair and operation of all YVR owned and managed properties outside the terminal, while enabling continuous and efficient operation with minimal disruption to all tenants.
Key responsibilities include:

Manage 24/7 maintenance and operations for all YVR owned facilities outside the terminal, including system alarms and specialized repairs

Oversee service contracts (parking, snow removal, landscaping, elevators, cleaning, etc.) and supervise contract maintenance staff to ensure timely completion of work orders

Plan, schedule, and review maintenance activities, including preventive and predictive programs, equipment integration into YARDI, and field inspections

Coordinate snow and ice operations for groundside and airside areas, including contractor access, materials management, and compliance requirements

Support budgeting and procurement by reviewing invoices, preparing maintenance reports, recommending policy improvements, and approving repairs and purchase orders

Maintain compliance with safety and operational standards by reviewing fire safety plans, monitoring maintenance technologies, and implementing system and program enhancements
Key qualifications include:

At least five years’ recent, related experience as a building operator and/or facility manager, including two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, supplemented by a BC Trade Qualification as an electrician, millwright, plumber, mechanic, or other similar trade; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with project management and related software is an asset

Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience supervising a team of employees or contractors

Effective communication and problem-solving abilities

Knowledge and experience in plumbing, HVAC systems and Building Management Systems

Knowledge and experience using YARDI (Property and Facility Management Software) is an asset
