About this Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, Exact Detailing is looking for an experienced Estimator with a 3D drafting and/or construction background to join our multi-disciplinary 3D detailing team.
Job Summary:
The Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager and will be responsible for all aspects of estimating for 3D modelling/detailing/drafting projects (Steel, Mass Timber, and Concrete Structures). The successful candidate will foster close working relationships with both our local and global teams, whilst providing expert local industry knowledge.
Duties / Responsibilities:
· Develop estimating cost models for new 3D modelling and drafting projects focusing on steel and concrete structures with the global cost team
- maintain and update the global estimating database, taking into consideration Canadian market conditions, typical productivities, labour rates, regional considerations, and other market specific factors.
· Together with sales and accounting departments, maintain and grow an active list of contractors and suppliers.
· Assess and analyze tenders for various work packages in collaboration with Operations, Accounting, Sales, Procurement, and peers.
· Conduct kick-off meetings for tender understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in the tender documents.
· Write estimating reports with evaluations and recommendations to senior management, in collaboration with global cost team.
· Communicate directly with clients, colleagues, management, and multi-disciplinary teams.
· Keep up-to-date with current detailing, engineering, and 3D technologies and trends.
Qualification:
· Five or more years of Steel Detailing or drafting experience.
· Prior experience in Timber detailing and/or other drafting is preferred.
· Proven experience in estimating steel detailing projects.
· Prior experience in concrete detailing and construction highly regarded.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Collaboration and engagement experience with people at all levels across organizations.
· High levels of attention to detail and accuracy.
