Position Overview
Kendrix is seeking a skilled Project Technician to support the installation and execution of integrated security projects across the Lower Mainland.
This role is suited for a technician who is comfortable working independently on installations, understands best practices in electronic security systems, and can support project delivery under the direction of the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be relied upon to complete assigned tasks accurately, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to project quality, schedules, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Project Support (Primary Focus)
- Follow Kendrix Technologies standards, policies, and safety procedures
- Perform installation of:
- Access control systems
- Intrusion detection systems
- Video surveillance systems
- Entry intercom systems
- Electronic locking hardware (electric strikes, magnetic locks, panic hardware)
- Parking control components
- Structured cabling
- EMT / PVC / Wiremold conduit
- Automatic doors, gates, and operators
- Assist with system integration and device connections
- Perform system configuration and basic software setup as required
- Work from ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
- Attend site meetings as required
- Coordinate with other trades on job sites
Networking / Systems Support
- Support LAN / WAN / TCP‑IP security networks
- Assist with DHCP, Dynamic DNS, and basic network configuration
- Support installation of server/client software and network switches
- Perform firmware updates and system testing
Project Close‑Out & Documentation
- Complete assigned commissioning and test reports
- Assist with deficiency and punch list completion
- Complete work orders and redline documentation
- Support system commissioning and client handover
- Communicate progress and issues clearly with Project Leads and Management
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
- Support Project Lead Technicians and senior field staff
- Assist junior technicians when required
- Participate in training and continuous skill development
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Education
- 3–5 years of relevant electronic security or low‑voltage experience
- Experience working on commercial or multi‑residential job sites
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and security drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Working knowledge of security networking concepts
- Experience using test equipment (multimeters, network testers)
- Ability to use power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to meet project deadlines and follow direction
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
