Position Summary
Reporting to the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Shop Manager, the NDT Technician is responsible to ensure that NDT tasks are performed in accordance with approved or acceptable procedures in an appropriate amount of time and in accordance with applicable quality standards. The NDT Technician will communicate effectively with department managers and other employees and our sister companies as well as outside clients. The NDT Technician is responsible for ensuring that their work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with applicable safety standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Ensure that work is performed within the limitations of their SCA or done under the supervision of appropriately authorized ACA/SCA holder
- Shall be familiar with NDT shop manual and the MPM
- Responsible for maintaining yearly eye exams IAW Canadian CAN/CGSB - 48.9712 requirements
- Ensure that tasks are completed in an effective manner and that the quality of the work performed is per applicable company and regulatory standards
- Ensure that equipment being used has been calibrated as required
- Ensure that tools and equipment required are available and safe for use
- Follow direction of SCA qualified staff for on-the-job training and, once qualified, train/mentor junior staff as instructed by management
- Ensure that all tasks are carried out in a safe manner IAW with applicable safety codes
- Ensure that good housekeeping practices are followed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
- Possess CAN/CGSB - 48.9712 (Canadian qualification and certification of NDT personnel) level 1, 2, or 3 certification in Eddy Current, Radiography and/or Ultrasonic testing. Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle processes are considered assets as well
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Ability to work with controlled goods, which requires a criminal records and reference check
- Hands-on NDT experience on a wide variety of aircraft, components and industrial environments is an asset
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
Working Conditions
- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
- Manual dexterity required using desktop computer and telephone
- Ability to work in confined spaces as well as work at heights
- Physically capable of working in a wide variety of industrial environments
- Various on-call shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions.
