Assistant Manager – Hochelaga Inn
Pay: $22/hour
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Saturdays & Sundays (some additional shifts scheduled as needed)
Contract: 6-month term, with the opportunity for extension
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join our team at Hochelaga Inn on a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. This role supports the General Manager by overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth guest experiences, and leading the team to maintain our high standards of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in daily operations to ensure efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Create and manage employee schedules, approve time-off requests, and ensure all shifts are covered.
- Provide leadership and support to the team, stepping in to assist various departments as needed.
- Train staff and ensure adherence to hotel policies and service standards.
- Monitor guest feedback on platforms such as TripAdvisor, Google, and Expedia, responding professionally and addressing concerns.
- Handle guest issues and complaints with professionalism, ensuring service recovery when necessary.
- Support the hiring process, onboarding new team members, and assisting with performance management.
- Conduct property inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and operational standards are met.
- Maintain open communication with staff and assist in business planning.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and hospitality industry standards.
- Be available by phone to assist staff with urgent issues when needed.
- Be available for overnight guest support and phone coverage before and after scheduled shifts.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
- Availability to work weekends (Saturdays & Sundays, daytime shifts preferred).
- A university degree or diploma in hospitality management (an asset but not required).
- 2+ years of experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
