Sod Farm Load Lifter Operator / General Farm Labourer
J. Lipani & son sod farms Ltd. is looking for a dependable, hard-working, multi-faceted Sod Farm Load Lifter Operator to join our team.
This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, helping with general farm duties, and jumping in wherever needed. This is not a single-task job. The successful candidate must be willing to operate machinery, load trucks, assist in the yard, help in the field, and support the crew during busy sod farming operations.
Responsibilities
Operate a load lifter/forklift safely and efficiently
Load and unload sod skids onto trucks and trailers
Move, stack, and organize sod pallets in the yard
Assist with shipping, receiving, and staging orders
Support sod harvesting and field operations as required
Assist with irrigation, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, and general farm maintenance
Perform daily equipment checks and report any mechanical issues
Help with greasing, cleaning, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard and work area
Communicate with supervisors, drivers, and harvest crews
Perform general labour duties when not operating equipment
Requirements
Experience operating a load lifter, forklift, loader, tractor, or similar equipment is preferred
Farm, construction, landscape, or equipment experience is an asset
Comfortable working outdoors in hot, cold, wet, dusty, and muddy conditions
Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and performing general labour
Mechanically inclined is an asset
Reliable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team
Strong attention to safety and equipment care
Valid driver’s licence is preferred
Must be willing and available to work long hours, including Saturdays, especially during peak season
