POSITION SUMMARY
Estimator 1 is the senior estimating role within the Commercial Team. This position is responsible for the full estimating life cycle including, complex take-offs, competitive pricing strategies, project coordination, and high-level customer relationship management. Estimator I works with significant independence, mentors junior estimators, and plays a key role in securing profitable commercial business. The role requires a deep working knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, construction documents, and the wholesale distribution business model including the ability to manage multiple commercial projects simultaneously.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Duties:
- Deliver exceptional customer service that strengthens ECCO Supply’s commercial relationships.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers, suppliers, and ECCO employees.
- Comply with ECCO’s Health & Safety and HR Policies and Procedures.
- Support ECCO’s Safety Program and model safe behavior.
- Participate in annual inventory counts.
- Attend advanced training and product knowledge sessions.
- Assist in trade shows and industry events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Estimating Duties
- Manage the bid calendar and workflow to ensure that all deadlines are met
- Complete detailed and complex take-offs for HVAC Mechanical equipment, ductwork, piping, fittings, controls, GRDs and other HVAC materials.
- Prepare accurate, competitive tenders and pricing packages with minimal supervision.
- Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profit margin.
- Conduct account research and identify sales opportunities.
- Educate customers on product features and benefits to support sales growth.
- Maintain accurate pricing databases, tender logs, and activity reports.
- Mentor Estimator II team members and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with Distribution, Demand Planning, and Manufacturing to ensure stock accuracy and order fill rates.
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Maintain centralized project information systems and ensure data accuracy.
- Track project status, delivery schedules, and contractor information.
- Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse staff, and Commercial Project Managers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Lead warranty follow-ups and ensure timely resolution.
- Review and improve documentation processes and SOP adherence.
- Monitor project posting sites and proactively identify bidding opportunities
Customer Service & Sales Support
Serve as a key point of contact for commercial customers, handling complex inquiries.
- Support inside and outside sales activities, including site visits when required.
- Provide timely follow-up to secure purchase orders and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Identify and solicit potential clients; maintain CRM records with accuracy.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements and SOP updates.
- Stay current on market trends, new equipment, and industry developments.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of experience in HVAC, commercial estimating, or mechanical construction.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, HVAC, Business, Project Management, or related field preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and the tender/construction process.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, estimating software, and CRM systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service orientation and business integrity.
