Le Méridien Toronto Pinnacle Hotel is seeking an experienced, highly organized and hands-on Housekeeping Manager to join our pre-opening leadership team.
Located in downtown Toronto, our new 223-room hotel will deliver a distinctive guest experience inspired by Le Méridien’s European heritage and contemporary style. The hotel will feature multiple restaurants, a spa, and approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. This is an exciting opportunity to build a housekeeping department from the ground up, recruit and develop a strong team, and establish the standards required for a successful hotel opening.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Housekeeping Manager is responsible for leading all housekeeping and laundry operations and ensuring guestrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces consistently meet the hotel’s cleanliness, presentation and brand standards.
During the pre-opening phase, the Housekeeping Manager will lead recruitment, training, departmental setup, operating-procedure development, inventory planning, room inspections and opening-readiness activities. Following the opening, the manager will oversee daily operations, team performance, productivity and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach and lead the housekeeping and laundry teams.
- Develop departmental policies, procedures, checklists and quality-control standards.
- Coordinate the setup and opening readiness of guestrooms, public areas, housekeeping closets, offices and laundry facilities.
- Conduct regular inspections of guestrooms, corridors, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
- Ensure compliance with Le Méridien and Marriott brand standards.
- Manage linen, uniforms, guest supplies, cleaning products and housekeeping equipment.
- Establish and maintain appropriate inventory and par levels while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
- Prepare staff schedules based on occupancy, business levels, events and operational requirements.
- Monitor labour productivity, departmental expenses, purchasing and operating budgets.
- Work closely with Front Office and Engineering to manage room status, resolve discrepancies and address maintenance concerns.
- Coordinate housekeeping requirements for the hotel’s restaurants, spa, meeting rooms and event spaces.
- Ensure lost-and-found procedures are consistently followed and properly documented.
- Maintain workplace health, safety, sanitation and WHMIS standards.
- Respond to guest concerns promptly, professionally and with a focus on service recovery.
- Promote accountability, engagement, teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
- Participate in management meetings and support hotel-wide pre-opening and operational initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a full-service or upscale hotel.
- A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Pre-opening or hotel-opening experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Marriott or another major international hotel brand is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room-inspection standards, laundry procedures and inventory management.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and remain effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, labour management and productivity reporting.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, based on operational requirements.
