Job Posting: Middle School Teacher
Calgary Arts Academy is immediately seeking a passionate, dedicated, and collaborative individual to provide full-time instruction to students at our middle school campus (Year 4-9 students). We are a dynamic team and community that puts students first and values arts and learning. Our unique program delivers Arts Immersion instruction using the strengths of all in the learning community.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Education
· Alberta Interim or Permanent Teaching Certificate
· Experience in and passion for the arts!
Responsibilities:
· Responsible to facilitate and provide instruction to a homeroom group of students, and engage in team planning and assessment to meet the outcomes from the Alberta Curriculum and Program of Studies.
· Plan effective, meaningful, and purposeful arts-based instruction using a variety of strategies, instruments, and techniques.
· Collaborate and communicate with a teaching team to support all students.
· Maintain an effective professional working relationship with all staff.
· Support students’ progress by goal setting and providing feedback.
· Assess each student (achievement and effort) in Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts as outlined in the curriculum.
· Communicate with parents and families of students through email, conferences, and ongoing assessment feedback.
· Facilitate and encourage the development of students’ self-esteem, confidence, and independence.
· Sound literacy and numeracy practice, and knowledge of new curriculum.
· Encourage students to develop and maintain positive interactions with others.
· Ensure the safety of students in the school and community.
· Maintain confidentiality, is patient, supportive, and committed.
· Prepare students for performance opportunities (creating and practicing).
· Take artistic risks with students and embraces learning opportunities.
· Seek training to support instruction.
· Participate actively in professional development to ensure charter mandates and school pillars are supported.
· Demonstrate positivity, flexibility, and adaptability.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $61,965.90-$104,009.40 per year
