Overview
We are seeking two skilled and experienced Excavator Operators to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation, particularly with excavators, and possess mechanical knowledge to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery on construction sites. This role is critical for the successful execution of various construction projects, including site preparation, grading, and utility installation.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to support construction and site development activities.
- Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation work in accordance with project requirements.
- Support retaining wall construction, foundation excavation, underground utility installation, and residential land development projects.
- Work safely on sites with varying terrain, slopes, and elevation changes.
- Follow survey stakes, grades, elevations, and site instructions to achieve required project tolerances.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, surveyors, truck drivers, and construction crews to maintain project schedules.
- Assist with material handling and loading activities as required.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Comply with company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating excavators on construction projects.
- Experience with excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation activities.
- Experience supporting retaining wall construction, foundation excavation, residential land development, or deep excavation projects is preferred.
- Experience working on sites with challenging terrain, steep grades, significant elevation changes, or hillside developments is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, grades, elevations, survey stakes, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of excavation safety requirements and underground utility awareness.
- Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, dozers, or graders is considered an asset.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
