Seeking an associate lawyer with experience in criminal law.
The successful candidate will support our busy criminal practice by assisting with bail hearings, guilty pleas and the conduct of preliminary inquiries and trials on behalf of our clients. Courtroom advocacy is critical to success in this role and legal research and written advocacy skills are strong supporting skills.
The successful applicant will need to be able to commute to downtown St. Catharines on a daily basis where both our offices and the main regional courthouse are located.

Qualifications
- 1-2 years or more of Canadian criminal law experience including conducting bail hearings, guilty pleas and trials
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario by the Law Society of Ontario
Competencies Sought
- Knowledge of criminal law and procedure including knowledge of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and it's application to criminal proceedings.
- Professionalism
- Self-Motivated with the ability to docket time worked on files
- Sound judgment (such as decision making, critical thinking and adaptability)
- Ability to work in a team-based office while demonstrating leadership and initiative, with a priority given to practice and file management
- Oral and written advocacy skills
Compensation
- Compensation to be determined based on level of experience and other qualifications of the successful applicant.
